Stop Waiting for Perfect — Your People Want Real
Why Authenticity Is the Most Powerful Marketing Strategy You're Not Using
I posted a photo of myself recently that I almost didn't share. I was in my third trimester, 35 pounds heavier than usual, swollen face, bad angle. All the things we're conditioned to edit out before we ever let the world see us.
And then something wild happened.
I got hundreds of DMs. Not about my weight. Not about the swelling. People saw happiness. Energy. Realness. They saw a person they actually wanted to connect with.
It hit me hard because I think we've all been sold the same lie.
The Lie We Keep Believing
As real estate agents, we think we need the perfect headshot, the curated feed, the right filter, the ideal backdrop. We think once we check all those boxes, then we can finally show up and be seen. Then we'll be worthy of attention.
But here's what I've learned after closing over $30 million from Instagram without paid ads, without a media team, and without chasing a single trend: none of that matters.
What people are actually drawn to is energy. Happiness. Authenticity. The thing that makes you magnetic isn't your appearance — it's how you make people feel when they interact with you, online or in person.
Your Kid Already Knows This
My son looks at me every single day — no matter what I look like — and tells me I'm beautiful. Not because I've got perfect makeup or the right angle. Because I'm happy to be around him. Because I'm present. Because my energy is real.
That's the secret everyone's chasing. And it applies directly to your business.
Your potential clients don't need a polished version of you. They need to feel like they already know you — because you were brave enough to let them see you.
Why This Matters for Your Business
Trust is the currency of real estate. And trust isn't built through curated content. It's built through connection.
When a buyer or seller scrolls through your Instagram and sees the real you — your morning coffee rant about the inspection that went sideways, your honest take on the market, your personality shining through without a script — that's when they think, "I want to work with her."
That's what turns followers into clients. That's what creates connection that actually lasts.
Here's My Challenge to You
This week, share something that feels real. Something that makes you a little nervous. Something that's authentically you — not the version you think people want to see.
Stop waiting to lose weight. Stop waiting for the perfect setup, the perfect background, or the perfect content calendar.
Your people don't need perfect. They need real.
And your future clients? They're waiting for exactly that.
